"Short Stay Program 2021" has started !
"Short Stay Program 2021" started on July 5.
The program is a short-term training program for students from overseas partner universities to develop human resources who can contribute to the sustainable development and use of natural resources, and is now in its 11th year. In view of the spread of the new coronavirus infection, the program was held online again this year, following last year.
This year, 23 students from 14 universities in 13 countries, the largest number ever, will participate in the program. In particular, the University of Zambia (Zambia), University of Witswatersrand (South Africa), Tete University of Technology (Mozambique), Nazarbayev University (Kazakhstan), Tajikistan Academy of Sciences (Tajikistan), Kyrgyz University of Geology, Mining and Natural Resources Development (Kyrgyzstan), and Kyushu University (Japan) will be participating for the first time. This is the first time for them to participate.
On July 5, the first day of the program, Director Shibayama gave a welcome speech, gave an overview of the program, and explained about Akita University and the Center for International Education and Research on Resources. This was followed by an orientation on the program and a lecture on Japanese language and culture by Professor Ritsuko Miyamoto of the Graduate School of International Resource Studies.
Over the next three weeks, the participants will attend on-demand lectures, virtual facility tours, lab work, and group discussion classes via live online connection.
