Kick-off Meeting for the JSPS Research Center Project was held
On August 4 (Wed.), the kick-off meeting of the JSPS Research Hub Formation Project entitled "Establishment of a Training Base for Young Resource Information Researchers for Sustainable Resource Development in Criminal Transition Countries in Central Asia" was held online.
In the first session, after an opening by center’s director professor Atsushi Shibayama, professor Yasushi Watanabe, professor Takeshi Adachi, professor Hikari Fujii, and professor Shibayama made presentations for each of the four joint research themes of this project. Afterward, Mr. Yoshitaka Hosoi, JICA International Cooperation Specialist and Advisor for Resource Development, gave a presentation on the activities of JICA's Resource Development Division in Central Asia.
In the second session, Dr. Selenen Jargalan from the Mongolian University of Science and Technology (Mongolia), Dr. Fidelis Suorineni from Nazarbayev University (Kazakhstan), Dr. Khaylo Hamidov from Navoi Mining University (Uzbekistan), and Dr. Anwar Kodyrov from Tajikistan Academy of Sciences (Tajikistan) introduced the educational and research activities of their respective universities.
On the day of the meeting, a total of 23 people participated from Tohoku University, Hokkaido University, Kyushu University, Tsukuba University, overseas partner institutions, and Japanese partner institutions.
This meeting as a first step in promoting future activities, was a great opportunity to deepen our understanding of the joint research themes in this project, as well as the educational and research characteristics of the participant’s university.
