Short Stay Program 2024

      From June 19th to July 25th, 2024 – RIGRe (Research Institute of Global Resources), Akita University conducted the “Short Stay Program 2024.”
      The program aims to give opportunities to interact with Japanese students and learn the fundamentals of resource development. Twenty students from twelve universities, mainly from central and the southeast Asian such as Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Thailand, Myanmar and Indonesia gathered at Akita University to participate in the month-long training. The Short Stay Program also includes the “Smart Mining Special Program,” which allowed 5 students in total from University of the Witwatersrand (South Africa), BIUST (Botswana International University of Science and Technology), and University of Botswana to participate.
      The participants joined resource facilities tours, tutorial lectures hosted by professors and lecturers of RIGRe members, and visited Kosaka Smelting & Refining Co., LTD(Kosaka), and Sumikawa Geothermal Power Plant(Kazuno)to acquire specialized knowledge and analysis technology.
      The students gave group presentations on the final day of the program, divided into several groups based on their research field and were given a certificate of completion by the head of RIGRe, Prof. Adachi.
