June Born Born, from the Department of Geosciences, Geotechnology, and Materials Engineering for Resources in the Doctoral Program at our Graduate School, conducted research on gold deposits in central Myanmar, which are hosted in sedimentary rocks. The study revealed that gold is contained in arsenic-rich secondary pyrite that grew around pyrite in organic-rich sedimentary rocks. The gold-bearing, reductive hydrothermal fluids infiltrated through fractures formed by the activity of the Sagaing Fault, which runs through central Myanmar. These findings have been published in Resource Geology.
