Mohamed A. Abelkader, a doctoral student from the Department of Geosciences, Geotechnology, and Materials Engineering for Resources at our Graduate School, analyzed spectral data obtained by satellite for a granitic pluton with rare metal mineralization in the Eastern Desert of Egypt. He successfully detected various alteration zones and fracture-dense zones. The analysis results, combined with surface observations, revealed that rare metal mineralization is included in the alteration zones that dominate in chlorite, muscovite, and hematite.
