A student at Graduate School of International Resource Sciences received Outstanding Student Presentation Award

Mr. SENO

At the Japan Geoscience Union Meeting 2025 held at Makuhari Messe from May 25 to 30, Mr. Kotaro Seno, a third-year doctoral student at our university, presented a poster titled “Mineralogy, geochemistry, and fluid inclusion studies of hematite orebodies in Akatani deposit, Niigata, NE Japan” and received the Outstanding Student Presentation Award.
Mr. Seno, originally from Niigata Prefecture, conducted geological fieldwork and rock sampling at the Akatani iron mine—one of Japan’s leading iron ore deposits—and elucidated in detail the formation process of the deposit through mineralogical and geochemical analyses of the ores.
The results of this research are scheduled to be published in an international peer-reviewed journal in the near future.
