First semester begins
This race starts at 9 pm at Kanpuzan on the Oga Peninsula, with participants having to walk the whole 40 km journey back to the university. In an average year, around 500 students, teaching staff and members of the general public take part in this legendary university event.
n athletic meet of 47 national, public and private universities in the Tohoku region, with 28 categories of events for men and women. Since the 2008 academic year, this athletic meet has been administered on a joint basis by prefectures in Tohoku.
Packed with a diverse array of programs, Open Campus is all about experiencing Akita University with your own eyes and ears. Visitors can get a taste of campus life, from facility tours to mock lessons and authentic food from the university’s dining hall.
Summer vacation
In addition to giving the leaders of clubs and other extracurricular activities the knowledge needed to run their activities and teaching them how to use an AED (automated external defibrillator), this training session is held every year to foster friendships and encourage discussion among participants.
The University Festival, a much-loved event among both university members and non-members alike, aims to encourage inter-faculty exchanges and deepen ties between students, teaching staff and members of the general public.
In an average year, 30 teams, including both men and women, come to compete in this relay marathon, which aims to increase ties between students and students and staff, and to nurture a spirit of sportsmanship.
