International Communication Status

The Faculty of Education and Human Studies puts importance on the studies of diverse societies, cultures and languages in the world, and is striving for the promotion of international communication and the enhancement of the system for students who wish to study abroad.

System for Students who Wish to Study Abroad

If a student wishes to study in a school associated with this University, which has an agreement on the exchange of students with this University, the tuition fee will be exempted in such school (please note that the number of students to be exchanged is limited, and there are some exceptions depending on the term and style of the stay). In addition, there is a system of financial support of the round trip fee between this University and the overseas school.

  • Supporting Project for Short-Term Dispatch of Students of Akita University to Oversea Schools *Japanese version only
仸If a student will study for a short-term (around one year) in an overseas university/school or an academic institution which is associated with this University, all or a part of the round trip fee will be paid by the University. If to an Asian country, the support fee is JPY40,000 maximum, and if to another country, the support fee is JPY120,000 maximum.

Besides the supporting projects of this University, there are some systems for supporting students' studying overseas, such as the "International Students’ Local Exchange Activities" and "Scholarships for International Students in Japan" offered by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO), and other scholarships offered by private entities.
It is also possible for students to study in a university/school that is not associated with our University.
Not only financial support, but also other support can be provided, such as information on studying overseas, support for foreign language improvement skills and information on necessary costs. Please feel free to contact the International Communication Center and the associated universities/schools.
