Message from the Chairman of Faculty of Education and Human Studies
The Faculty of Education and Human Studies has two departments: the "Department of School Education" for students who want to become teachers in the future, and the "Department of Regional Studies and Humanities" for students who want to become public servants and business people who are active in the local communities. There are five courses in the Department of School Education and three programs in the Department of Regional Studies and Humanities so that individuals studying there can acquire a higher professional perspective.
The Department of School Education inherits the Akita Mode of Inquiry-Based Learning, which supports the top-level academic ability in Japan. There are 5 courses, the Course for Compulsory School Teachers, the Course for English Language Teachers, the Course for Science and Mathematics Teachers, the Course for Special Needs Education Teachers, and the Course for Child Development and Education. We are training human resources who can demonstrate their skills. In addition, all courses are actively incorporating hands-on activities so that students can acquire practical skills in the field of education, and we will do our utmost to support students so that they can stand on the platform with peace of mind in the future. By establishing such a generous system, the school curriculum maintains a high teacher employment rate.
The Department of Regional Studies and Humanities is to train human resources who are at the forefront of The Department of Regional Studies and Humanities is to train human resources who are at the forefront of regional creation. There are 3 programs, the Program in Regional Studies, the Program in International Cultural Studies, and the Program in Psychological Studies, to develop the ability to support the community from various aspects. The Program in Regional Studies is based on social sciences such as law and economics, and by incorporating fieldwork-type lessons into it, we will develop the ability to immediately grasp the region mainly from a local perspective. The Program in International Cultural Studies is based on humanities science studies such as literature and history, develops foreign language proficiency, and develops the ability to grasp the region from a global perspective through overseas training. In the Program in Psychological Studies, you will learn the basic theory of psychology and develop mental experts who support the community.
