On 2024 November 26th (Tuessday), we held a face-to-face roundtable discussion with Dr. Victor Norrefeldt, from the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics (IBP), Germany, and high school students from Akita Prefecture(14 paticipants from 3 high schools).
This was the second time the event was held, following last year's event.
All communication was conducted in English, and after the high school students introduced themselves, Dr.Victor then introduced himself and explained how he decided to become a researcher and his specialty, environmental control of aircraft interiors. After that, the high school students asked Dr.Victor a wide range of questions, from his current research to the hardest things he had experienced in high school. Many of the high school students were particularly interested in "flying cars," and listened intently to what Dr.Victor, who is actually involved in research, had to say.
Led by the Regional Talent Development Department, we will continue to disseminate information and educate not only junior high and high school students, but also elementary school students and working adults, in order to promote the development of science-related human resources who can be active in local areas.
